Netflix Renews David Fincher's 'Mindhunter' For Season 2

It was inevitable, but now it’s official: Netflix has renewed David Fincher‘s outstanding serial killer series “Mindhunter” for a second season.

So, where will audiences go in the next round of episodes? This fall, Fincher revealed, “Next year we’re looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we’ll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice. The music will evolve. It’s intended to support what’s happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons.”

The case he’s talking about unfolded between 1979 and 1981, when 28 African-American children, adolescents, and adults were killed, with Wayne Williams eventually convicted for two of the murders. The twist? Williams has always maintained his innocence, and even some officials believe they got the wrong guy. We’re in.

And yes, Fincher will still be “heavily involved” in the series going forward, which is all music to our ears.

Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv will all likely return, and while we probably won’t see Cameron Britton‘s terrific Ed Kemper, the actor’s career is now on the rise thanks to “Mindhunter” and his fantastic work.

No release date yet for the second season, but I’d imagine Netflix will aim to have the next round of “Mindhunter” ready before 2018 is through.
