Director Lynne Ramsay had a bit of a rough ride with “Jane Got A Gun,” with the kind of contentious exit from the western that made many question how long it would take for producers to work with her again. Well, the filmmaker dusted herself off and recruited Joaquin Phoenix for the lean, mean “You Were Never Really Here.” The film set off fireworks at the Cannes Film Festival last spring, and it’s on the way to cinemas soon.
Co-starring Judith Roberts, Ekaterina Samsonov, John Doman, Alex Manette, Dante Pereira-Olsen, and Alessandro Nivola, the story follows a war veteran who now tracks down missing girls for a living, and follows him on an assignment that changes everything. Here’s the official synopsis:
A traumatized veteran, unafraid of violence, tracks down missing girls for a living. When a job spins out of control, Joe’s nightmares overtake him as a conspiracy is uncovered leading to what may be his death trip or his awakening.
Radiohead‘s Jonny Greenwood provides the outstanding score for “You Were Never Really Here” which opens on April 6th.
