At the beginning of each year, Netflix likes to lay out its entire film slate in a nice video teaser. This is to get people excited by what’s to come, and to also show other studios/streamers that Netflix is still one of the premier destinations for entertainment. It’s honestly pretty impressive. So, to keep that excitement going, Netflix is also now hyping up its summer slate. No, there’s not a cool video teaser with new exclusive footage. But hey, the biggest streaming service on the planet still has a pretty great slate of films coming over the next several months.
Of course, leading the way are new films starring Gal Gadot, Jennifer Lopez, and Chris Hemsworth. Gadot’s next film, “Heart of Stone,” is an action thriller that is expected to arrive on Netflix on August 11. But before that, we have “The Mother,” starring Lopez, which arrives on May 12, and “Extraction 2,” featuring Hemsworth, arriving on June 16. The latter of which is the sequel to one of Netflix’s biggest films of all time.
In addition to big-budget blockbusters, Netflix has also become one of the best services when it comes to documentaries. And this summer, Netflix has a number of high profile docs arriving on its service including “Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me” (May 16), “Victim/Suspect” (May 23), “Take Care of Maya” (June 19), and “Wham!” (July 5).
Overall, it looks like yet another big slate of Netflix films for subscribers. You can check out Netflix’s Tudum article for the entire list of films arriving this summer.
