New 'Foundation' Season 2 Trailer: Apple TV+'s Epic Sci-Fi Series Returns On July 14

After a nearly two-year wait, David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman‘s “Foundation” returns to Apple TV+ this month for its second season. Based on Isaac Asimov‘s classic sci-fi tales, “Foundation” follows a sect of humans with psionic and their attempt to protect their species in the universe over a thousand years. Season 2 of “Foundation” picks up the story over a century after the Season 1 finale, with The Foundation entering a religious phase to protect itself.

More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in “Foundation” season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. Hari, Gaal and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.

Lee Pace and Jared Harris return to headline “Foundation” Season 2, along with Laura BirnCassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann. But the latest season of the sci-fi drama sees a lot of new faces join the cast, too.
