Season 2 of “Foundation” picks up the story over a century after the Season 1 finale, with The Foundation entering a religious phase to protect itself.

More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in “Foundation” season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. Hari, Gaal and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
Lee Pace and Jared Harris return to headline “Foundation” Season 2, along with Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann. But the latest season of the sci-fi drama sees a lot of new faces join the cast, too. Newcomers include Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels, and Dmitri Leonidas.
Goyer returns as showrunner on “Foundation,” and also serves as executive producer on the series with Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, Robin Asmiov, and Marcy Ross. Skydance Television produces “Foundation” for Apple.
So how will Apple TV+ subscribers take to the new season of “Foundation”? Critical response to the first season was generally positive, so hopes are high that Season 2 will catch on even more. “Foundation” Season 2 premieres on the streamer on July 14. Watch a new trailer for the series below.
