New Photos From Sarah Polley's 'Take This Waltz' & Sofia Coppola's 'Somewhere'

Here are two new photos from Sarah Polley’s sophomore directorial effort in the romantic drama “Take This Waltz” and Sofia Coppola’s upcoming Venice-starrer “Somewhere.”

Featuring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen, Polley’s film follows Margot, a 28-year-old woman who’s been married to her husband Leo (Rogen) for five years. She meets a man named Seth on a business trip who turns out to live across the street from the couple, and the two begin an awkward flirtation, which soon threatens to blossom into something more.

Comedienne Sarah Silverman also stars as Rogen’s sister in the feature which shot over the summer in Toronto. We reviewed the script earlier this year and found it to be a charming and initially funny, honest and unflinching exploration of people in their late 20s; much the same thing “Away From Her” was for people in their 60s. No word on a potential release yet, though a Sundance premiere could be on the cards considering the current timeframe and the fact her debut directorial feature played there in 2007.

Coppola’s “Somewhere,” meanwhile, centers on a bad-boy actor who is wasting away in the celebrity-laden Chateau Marmont when his estranged 11-year-old daughter shows up for an unexpected visit. Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning play the aforementioned leads, with this image of the two likely deriving from a scene in the film (also seen in the trailer) which draws inspiration from Coppola’s own memories of a trip to Italy with her father, Francis Ford Coppola, to receive the Telegatto Award.

The film will premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival and has already been given a December 22nd release date, seemingly on track to spearhead Focus Features’ award season after the likes of Anton Corbijn’s “The American” and Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden’s “It’s Kind Of A Funny Story” were handed underwhelming September releases.
