With all this talk of "The Avengers," "Dark Shadows," "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Prometheus" it seems the sequel no one asked for, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" is getting left out of the conversation. But even if it's a movie that no one who bought a ticket for "G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra" was anticipating, it is looking like passable entertainment. After all, it has sword fighting on the side of a fucking mountain, so that has to count for something right?
Anyway, a batch of new gun totin', sword wieldin' and tough-looking images have arrived for the film. Roadblock, Storm Shadow and Lady Jaye all get their due in an otherwise pretty generic looking summer movie. But hey, if things explode like they should, and the movie stays on the right side of stupid, it could be decent enough empty-calorie fun. But then again, it's being directed by Jon M. Chu of "Step Up 3D" and "Never Say Never" fame, so who knows. But maybe we'll get a Bruce Willis dance number?
"G.I. Joe: Retaliation" opens on June 29th. [Stark Industries]
