Once a dark horse, Brady Corbet‘s “The Brutalist” is now an awards season favorite after nabbing three wins at this year’s Golden Globes. But does winning Best Picture, Best Director for Corbet, and Best Actor for star Adrian Brody at the Globes mean the film will do the same at the Oscars?

That’s the question on everyone’s mind as A24 prepares for its wide release of “The Brutalist” next weekend. And here’s a new trailer for Corbet’s film to build up further hype. It’s not too different from previous trailers, but the 77-second preview boasts a few new shots (which doesn’t mean much, given the film’s 215-minute runtime).
Here’s an official synopsis for “The Brutalist,” courtesy of A24 :
Escaping post-war Europe, visionary architect László Toth arrives in America to rebuild his life, his work, and his marriage to his wife Erzsébet after being forced apart during wartime by shifting borders and regimes. On his own in a strange new country, László settles in Pennsylvania, where the wealthy and prominent industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren recognizes his talent for building. But power and legacy come at a heavy cost…
Along with Brody, “The Brutalist” also stars Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassida, and Stacy Martin. Emma Laird, Isacch De Bankolé, and Alessandro Nivola round out the main cast.
Corbet also co-writes “The Brutalist” with partner Mona Fastvold. Producers on the film include Corbet, Trevor Matthew, Nick Gordon, Brian Young, Andrew Morrison, Andrew Lauren, and D.J. Gugenheim.
“The Brutalist” had its world premiere at last year’s Venice Film Festival, where Corbet won the Silver Lion for Best Director. The film also screened at TIFF, NYFF, the Valladolid International Film Festival, and the Austin Film Festival.
“The Brutalist” opens wide on January 24. Watch the new trailer for the film below.
