Nicholas Hoult Stars In New Rolling Stones Video For 'Mess It Up'

Did you ever watch “Forrest Gump” and wonder what it would be like if Forrest didn’t run during that section of the film and instead walk, accompanied by a Rolling Stones soundtrack? Well, if so, you’re in luck because that’s the basic premise of the new music video for the track “Mess It Up” by the aforementioned Stones. Except in the main role, we don’t get Tom Hanks, but we do see Nicholas Hoult, which isn’t a bad replacement.

That’s right, Nicholas Hoult is the star of the new Rolling Stones music video for the song “Mess It Up.” The video is directed by music video veteran Calmatic and features Hoult as a man who decides to walk out of his house after a messy dispute with his partner. From there, he walks. And walks. And walks. He walks through deserts, farms, snow, and beaches. Eventually, we see him with a beard because he walked for so damn long. Eventually, well, things happen and you’ll just have to watch for yourself.

“Hard to believe this is real! Super honored to be a part of and add a bit of my art into such a storied legacy,” the director wrote on Instagram. “Super blessed to work with the extremely talented @nicholashoult! Choreo by @monikafelicesmith definitely made me look good. 😅”

“Mess It Up” is featured on the Stones’ newest album—their first in 18 years— “Hackney Diamonds.” The track is actually one of only two on the record that features the work of Charlie Watts, the legendary Stones drummer who sadly passed away in August 2021.
