Director Nicholas Stoller is one of the more prolific modern comedic filmmakers, having helmed pics such as “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” “Get Him To The Greek,” “The Five-Year Engagement,” “Neighbors,” “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” and the upcoming Judd Apatow-produced “Bros” that stars/co-written by Billy Eichner.
Yet another comedy is on the horizon and the director has assembled an interesting duo for the lead roles.
Deadline reports that the director is behind an untitled wedding film that has “Legally Blonde” actress Reese Witherspoon and “Anchorman” funnyman Will Ferrell are attached to star. Stoller also penned the script, which isn’t that shocking given he’s written most of his own projects, and his other writing credits include “Yes Man,” “The Muppets,” “Sex Tape,” “Zoolander 2,” and “Dora & The Lost City of Gold.”

We’re a little bit in the dark as plot details weren’t mentioned, but we could speculate the pair might be playing parents of someone getting married or potentially competing wedding planners. Either way, the comedic talent involved is undeniable and should lead to a lot of interest. The hot comedy package is now out to suitors, although, the report fails to name any of those in the running. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine that streaming studios might also be interested.
Witherspoon has been involved with the hit HBO series “Big Little Lies” and Ferrell is playing a toy company executive in Greta Gerwig‘s highly-anticipated “Barbie” movie led by Aussie actress Margot Robbie.
We’ll be extremely curious about the film’s supporting cast as Stoller usually has a good eye for casting around his principal actors.
Universal Pictures will release Stoller’s next comedy “Bros,” the first romantic comedy from a major studio about two gay men, on September 30.
