With Bradly Cooper now set to direct and co-star with Margot Robbie and Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”) in the gestating, but untitled, “Ocean’s 11” prequel. It’s full-steam ahead (after Ryan Gosling dropped out and Cooper took his place), and now they’ve recruited an Oscar-nominee to join the film’s call-sheet, as “A Complete Unknown” actress Monica Barbaro has nabbed a part alongside the Hollywood heavyweights.
That big casting update from Deadline is likely just one new cog of many to come, as more names are expected to join the Warner Bros. feature film project, with the trilogy of movies being known for having elaborate casts (even with the female-centric Sandra Bullock-led spinoff “Ocean’s 8”). Barbaro’s involvement isn’t strange with more action-adventure projects under her belt in recent years, having a big supporting part in “Top Gun: Maverick” and playing Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fellow covert spy/daughter in the Netflix series “FUBAR.”

We’ll see if some of the names being thrown around online end up confirmed or not by trades/Warner Bros. in the coming weeks, but this should be a project that talent will be lining up to get involved with, and we’ll be sure to see more high-profile actors taking on parts (potentially of new and established characters).
However, given that this is set in the past, we really shouldn’t expect to see any present-day franchise actors. Not all that surprising, as “Ocean’s 14” was eyeing a production start in the fall with original actors set to return, such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts (more expected to be named at a later date alongside who is directing it).
Now that they have Cooper sitting in the director’s chair for this “Ocean’s 11” prequel, it is expected to film in the London area in the United Kingdom and across locations in Europe over the summer, as the studio has already slated the release date for a prime spot for June 25, 2027. Stay tuned as more names are announced; they’ll be coming very soon with that looming production start.
