Director Jeremy Saulnier is coming off a huge win with his Netflix rural corrupt cop pic “Rebel Ridge” winning Outstanding Television Movie at The Primetime Emmys, and is already gearing up for his follow-up, the fugitive thriller “October” at A24 (they previously worked together on “Green Room“), which has landed new additions to the cast.
Yesterday, Deadline revealed that the new A24 film is getting some young actors on the rise with Stanley Simons (“The Iron Claw”) and Young Mazino (“The Last of Us,” “Beef”) on the call sheet alongside veteran actor Stephen Root (“Barry”).
This newly announced trio will join previously announced actors on the project, such as Cory Michael Smith (“Mountainhead,” “Saturday Night”), Chase Sui Wonders (“The Studio”), and Sophie Wilde (“Talk To Me”).
“October” has a producing team that features Rich Peete of Neighborhood Watch, Eli Bush through Central, and Niteowl Films (Jeremy Saulnier and Skei Saulnier) alongside executive producers Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie (“Marty Supreme”) as part of Central, Traci Carlson and Elliott Coley via Neighborhood Watch, and Macon Blair under his banner Bonneville Pictures.
Quite the group of actors being assembled by Saulnier for “October,” which is said to be set during/around Halloween and described as an action horror thriller, also written by the filmmaker. We previously revealed that Saulnier would be reuniting with cinematographer Magnus Nordenhof Jønck (“Her Private Hell,” “Copenhagen Cowboy“) and production taking place in Vancouver, starting this month into December.
