‘October’: Chase Sui Wonders & Sophie Wilde Join Jeremy Saulnier’s Action Horror Thriller At A24

After spending a good chunk of time making Netflix films, filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier is reuniting with A24 for his new movie “October” after working with them on his punk band vs. Neo-Nazis thriller “Green Room.”

In a new report, Deadline announces that Saulnier has selected two A24 alumni to co-star in “October” as Aussie actress Sophie Wilde of “Talk to Me” and “Babygirl,” alongside “The Studio” breakout Chase Sui Wonders (was also seen in A24 pics “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “On the Rocks“), who have joined the action horror thriller project.

The latest additions to the cast join Cory Michael Smith, who was previously announced and was recently seen in “Mountainhead,” and played a young Chevy Chase in Jason Reitman‘s “Saturday Night.”

Plot and character details haven’t been made official, but the outlet mentions they’re under the impression “October” could be a fugitive thriller that is set around/during Halloween.

We can add that “October” is set to begin shooting next month in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, until December, and confirm that Saulnier will reunite with “Hold The Dark” cinematographer Magnus Nordenhof Jønck, who recently worked with Nicolas Winding Refn on “Her Private Hell” and “Copenhagen Cowboy.”

Jeremy Saulnier is coming off the massive audience and critical success of his subdued and character-driven rural crooked cop action thriller “Rebel Ridge,” starring on-the-rise British actor Aaron Pierre, who is now leading HBO‘s “Lanterns” opposite Kyle Chander. There had been some worry when John Boyega exited the project; it could have fallen apart, only for it to become one of the best originals the streaming service has released.
