Olivia Wilde & ‘Booksmart’ Writer Katie Silberman Reuniting For A New Holiday Comedy Film

Sure, “Booksmart” might not have been the box office juggernaut that people thought it would be when the comedy opened in theaters earlier this year. That being said, there’s no denying that the teen comedy is one of the best-reviewed films of 2019 and will likely make many top 10 lists by the end of the year. So, it makes sense that “Booksmart” director Olivia Wilde and co-writer Katie Silberman would want to team up one more time.

According to Deadline, Universal has outbid six other studios for the rights to distribute an “untitled holiday comedy” that will be written by Silberman and directed by Wilde. No word yet on the plot of the film, but it’s apparent that Universal is confident that the women behind “Booksmart” are going to bring something special to their next film.

This untitled film will mark the sophomore effort as director for Wilde. However, she won’t be able to begin working on the film until she’s done starring in the upcoming Clint Eastwood film, “The Ballad of Richard Jewell.”

Silberman is probably best known for “Booksmart,” but she’s no stranger to screenwriting. Her previous work includes the Netflix hit rom-com “Set It Up” and the film “Isn’t It Romantic?” She also is the writer of the upcoming film, “Most Dangerous Game,” which is in development now.
