New Rumor Explains How Edward Furlong Will Appear In 'Terminator: Dark Fate' [Spoilers]

At the recent “Terminator: Dark Fate” panel at San Diego Comic-Con, James Cameron dropped the bomb that Edward Furlong would appear in some capacity in the upcoming sequel. However, what wasn’t revealed is exactly how it will happen.

In the report yesterday, I postulated how we could see Furlong, who played the all-too-important John Connor in “T2,” show up as the character in ‘Dark Fate.’ Basically, it came down to one of two ways. Either we’d see older John Connor as he helps his mother in her latest adventure, considering ‘Dark Fate’ clearly takes place in more modern times, which would be almost 30 years after “T2.” Or, and what seemed like the most obvious option, would be to use a young Furlong in flashbacks, utilizing footage from the previous film or perhaps some old unused scenes that didn’t make the final cut.

Well, according to Bloody Disgusting, the real answer is neither of those and frankly, you wouldn’t likely guess how they’re doing it in a million years.

Now, before we get to the rumor, it’s important to know that none of this is confirmed and it’s based on an anonymous source given to Bloody Disgusting. However, if it does happen to be true, consider it a fairly big spoiler. And thus…

**SPOILER WARNING**

The rumor states that it will be a young John Connor that appears in the film (presumably in a flashback), however, director Tim Miller isn’t using unused footage from “T2” to craft the scenes. Instead, he’s hired an actor named Jude Collie has been brought on to be the “body double” for a young Furlong. And instead of using clever filming techniques, ‘Dark Fate’ will digitally add Furlong’s face to the young actor’s body.

Making matters even more intriguing, the rumor states that Furlong will provide a brand-new facial performance that will form the basis for this CGI trickery. Yes, it’s all very technological and complicated. And therefore, absolutely perfect for a James Cameron production.

Obviously, we’ll know for sure later this year when ‘Dark Fate’ arrives in theaters on November 1. But for now, it appears that there are still plenty of surprises in store in the upcoming ‘Terminator’ sequel.
