'Oppenheimer': Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz & Jack Quaid Join Christopher Nolan's WWII Drama

Christopher Nolan‘s move from Warners Bros. to Universal made waves as the studio loyalist left his longtime home reportedly over fallout from WarnerMedia‘s push for a day-and-date release model in 2021. He took his next feature film “Oppenheimer” to auction which led to Universal winning that bidding war, allowing the filmmaker to secure a theatrical release. The drama focuses on the making of the Atom Bomb with Cillian Murphy playing J. Robert Oppenheimer, the architect of the bomb. It has an impressive cast and has grown a bit more with three more names joining the call-seet.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Alden Ehrenreich and David Krumholtz have been added to “Oppenheimer.” Jack Quaid of “The Boys” and the latest “Scream” installment has also joined the lineup too.

Already selected for roles include Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Matthew Modine, and actor/director Benny Safdie. Becoming one of the most anticipated films of 2023.

This new partnership with Universal could allow Nolan to continue to focus on original theatrical projects without the expectation of making content for specifically streaming services or having release dates pulled at the last minute. Something that might not have been a lock at WarnerMedia as they have been pivoting so many projects to HBO Max to help boost their subscriptions.

Ehrenreich became a breakout thanks to his role as a western actor in “Hail, Ceasar!” helmed by the Coen Brothers and took on the iconic part of Han Solo in Ron Howard’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” He most recently was seen in the series adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel “Brave New World.”
