What’s next for Colin Farrell? THR reports that the Irish actor will team up with the Russo Bros.‘ AGBO banner for a new action-thriller titled “Ordained” that pits a priest against a bunch of hitmen.
Farrell will star in the film as Father Roy Craig, a priest who performs last rites on a mob boss who miraculously survives — but not before confessing his crimes to the father. Now, everyone the boss named to Father Roy wants to silence the priest, unaware of just how dangerous a target he really is.
“Ordained” adapts an upcoming comic book of the same name from Bad Idea, with THR reporting that multiple streamers and studios want in on the film. “John Wick” writer Derek Kolstad pens the script (no surprise there) and produces the film with Bad Idea’s Dinesh Shamdasani and Benjamin Simpson. Joe and Anthony Russo also produce via AGBO with Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco, as does Farrell and his sister Claudine Farrell via Chapel Place. As of now, there’s no director attached to the movie.
Farrell adds “Ordained” to a list of upcoming projects that includes “The Batman Part II,” in theaters October 2027, and “Sugar” Season 2, on Apple TV+ next year. The actor’s 2025 films include “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” and “Ballad Of A Small Player.” Farrell also nabbed an Emmy nod for HBO‘s “The Penguin“ this year, his only major project of 2024.
As for AGBO, the Russos also have “Avengers: Doomsday,” “Avengers: Secret Wars,” and “Mercenary,” a TV series spinoff of the “Extraction” movis starring Omar Sy, on the way.
The “Ordained” comic book hits stores on December 10, from writer Robert Venditti, illustrator Trevor Hairsine, and colorist Dave Stewart. Will “Ordained” the movie have a studio or streamer lined up to finance and distribute by then? We’ll soon find out.
