Can one person do something extraordinary? The film “Ordinary Angels” focuses on a hairdresser who finds new purpose and inspiration after meeting a single father. This story, based on true events, sees the woman take on the family’s troubles — namely a young girl in need of a liver transplant. The project comes from “The Case for Christ” and “The Week” director Jon Gunn. Acclaimed actress Meg Tilly and filmmaker Kelly Fremon Craig wrote the screenplay; Fremon Craig’s most recent effort, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” is winning raves from critics as well as viewers.
The project looks to an Oscar winner for its lead, as Hilary Swank stars as the hairdresser whose life is turned upside down. Alan Ritchson, who has risen in prominence with the popular series “Reacher,” portrays the widower facing challenges. Nancy Travis, Tamala Jones, Amy Acker, Drew Powell, Skywalker Hughes, and Emily Mitchell also star in the film.
The film’s official synopsis:
“Based on a remarkable true story, “Ordinary Angels” centers on Sharon (Hilary Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles, and ordinary angels.”
