‘Other Mommy’ Trailer: Jessica Chastain Returns To Horror This October With Latest Offering From Producers Of ‘Backrooms’ & ‘Obsession’

It’s been a hot moment since Jessica Chastain, who played a main role in “IT: Chapter Two,” has done a big studio horror movie, and that is happening with “Other Mommy,” hailing from Blumhouse Atomic Monster, the home of Jason Blum and James Wan (after their two genre-focused production companies merged).

Helmed by director Rob Savage (“Host,” “Boogeyman”), Chastain leads a cast in the creepy new sinister horror movie that also features Jay Duplass (“Baghead”), Arabella Olivia Clark (“The Housemaid,” “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle”), Dichen Lachman (“Severance”), Arian Moayed (“Succession”), and Karen Allen (“Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Starman”).

The brief but tantalizing synopsis for the new horror film, with a script from Nathan Elston (“Succession”) and based on the novel “Incidents Around the House” by Josh Malerman:

A terrifying trip into the darkening world of a young girl, Bela (Clark), who forms a relationship with a sinister entity in her home who looks uncannily like her own mother (Chastain).

Wan toplines the producing team, which also consists of Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Savage, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis, who executive produce the flick.

Universal Pictures‘ marketing team is really banking on Blumhouse and Wan’s involvement to move the needle after producing breakout hits “Obsession” and “Backrooms,” respectively, so the pressure is on with “Other Mommy” when the pic arrives in theaters on October 9, 2026.
