'Game Of Thrones' And 'Narcos' Star Pedro Pascal To Suit Up For 'Wonder Woman 2'

Fresh off of director Patty Jenkinsannouncement of Kristin Wiig as the villain Cheetah in the upcoming “Wonder Woman 2,” we now have another big casting announcement for the sequel to last year’s box office blockbuster. According to a recent reportPedro Pascal, currently seen as Javier Peña on the Netflix hit show “Narcos,” will join the cast of the superhero film in an undisclosed role.

While we don’t know what role Pascal has signed up for, judging by his past work, he’s a versatile actor that can do just about anything, even if that means getting his head crushed by someone’s bare hands. That, of course, happened in Pascal’s most famous role to-date, playing the brutally ill-fated, fan-favorite Oberyn Martell on “Game of Thrones” in 2014. He, also recently, starred in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” last year, as a Statesmen with a smooth Southern accent and questionable loyalties. Perhaps most integral to this casting decision is that Jenkins and Pascal have worked together before on the TV movie, “Exposed.”

Not much is known about Wonder Woman 2’s plot details other than it takes place during the Cold War-era of the ’80s and brings back Gal Gadot in the titular role. Whatever unfolds for the production, it has all the ingredients of another, much needed, hit for Warner Bros. and the DC film universe, in particular.

“Wonder Woman” has been the only DC universe film to compete with the incredibly well-received Marvel Studios films, at least critically. While other DCU films have made a lot of money, their critical and fan reception has been mixed, to say the least. As we reported, the most recent DCU film, “Justice League,” not only didn’t strike a chord with fans and critics but also ended its box office run as the lowest grossing film in the series.

The Gadot, Wiig, and Pascal-led “Wonder Woman 2” is slated to be released November 1, 2019. For WB/DC that date can’t come soon enough.
