So, you’ve won an Oscar, you’ve just been declared by People magazine to be the most beautiful person (celebrity) on the planet, so what do you do for your next move? If you’re Lupita Nyong’o you go blockbuster, and that’s just what she’s done, along with Scarlett Johansson.
The actresses have joined Disney‘s live-action/CGI version of “The Jungle Book,” that has Jon Favreau set to direct. Justin Marks (“Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li“) has penned the script, about which plot details haven’t been revealed. But all the familiar characters will be there with Idris Elba voicing the man-eating tiger Shere Khan, Nyong’o will play Rakcha, the wolf who takes in the orphan Mogwli and ScarJo will portray the sling python Kaa. As for the lead role of the young Mowgli, no one has been set yet, but we’d wager an announcement is coming soon. Why?
Because “The Jungle Book” is already set for an October 29, 2015. And you better believe that Disney want to beat WB to their own brewing take on Rudyard Kipling‘s book, set to be directed by Andy Serkis. [THR]
