Peter Dinklage Has No Idea When 'The Toxic Avenger' Will Be Released: "Hopefully It Will Have Its Day In The Toxic Sun"

It’s been almost a year since “The Toxic Avenger” remake made its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2023. Typically, when you have a film with strong reviews (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) and an all-star cast, we’d expect to see the film quickly in theaters. But for this film, there’s been no word on when we might see it. It’s unbelievable to think “The Toxic Avenger” doesn’t have a distributor today. And it’s something that is confusing to the film’s star, Peter Dinklage, as well.

In a new interview with Comicbook.com, Peter Dinklage is asked about the status of “The Toxic Avenger.” The film, written and directed by Macon Blair, played last year’s Fantastic Fest and then went silent. There was even a quick teaser trailer. But not even Dinklage has a clue when we might see the film.

“No, I’m not a producer on it. I don’t know,” Dinklage said. “I do want it to get out there into the world because it was a really big hit at Fantastic Fest in Austin, and Macon Blair, the writer/director who is also in ‘The Thicket’… He’s incredible. He’s one of my favorite people and favorite artists. So hopefully it will have its day in the toxic sun.”

For those unaware, “The Toxic Avenger” is a remake of the cult classic ‘80s film of the same name. The remake follows the story Dinklage’s character, Winston Gooze, a janitor who falls into a vat of toxic waste becoming the title character. If it’s anything like the original, it should be a wild, silly, gory time.

Sure, we know it’s not really news to say a film doesn’t have a release date, but maybe if we share this quote and talk about the ridiculous fact that “The Toxic Avenger” doesn’t have a distributor, someone will snatch it up. The world needs to see “The Toxic Avenger.” Let’s make it happen!
