'Avengers' Star Pom Klementieff Is The Latest To Join Christopher McQuarrie's 'Mission: Impossible' Sequels

Though she has acted in many French films over the last decade-plus, many film fans from around the world know Pom Klementieff from her role as Mantis in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” But now, thanks to a recent announcement from filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie, the actress has another mission lined up that might help her shed her Marvel antennae.

According to McQuarrie’s recent post on Twitter, Pom Klementieff is the latest actor to join the upcoming “Mission: Impossible” sequels that are set to begin production all around the world over the next year or so. Obviously, her exact role is being kept under wraps (would you expect anything else from a spy film franchise?), but McQuarrie did hint about Klementieff’s character in his tweet.

“@PomKlementieff, How do you spell femme fatale? #MI78” wrote the filmmaker.

First, we have to assume that the #MI78 is in reference to the upcoming seventh and eighth ‘Mission: Impossible’ sequels and not an announcement that Klementieff is planning well ahead of time for her debut in “Mission: Impossible 78.”

Now, secondly, it would appear that the actress is set to play a femme fatale of sorts in the franchise. In the most recent ‘M:I’ film, ‘Fallout,’ Vanessa Kirby was aboard as the closest thing to a femme fatale character in the film. So, maybe Klementieff will play a character similar in nature to Kirby’s? We’ll have to wait and find out.

In addition to her expected return in the forthcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Klementieff has other non-MCU films lined up, including the upcoming “Uncut Gems” and “Thunder Force.” She was also seen in a recent “Black Mirror” episode and the animated family film “The Addams Family.”

Klementieff joins recently announced cast member Hayley Atwell in the new spy films. The two untitled “Mission: Impossible” sequels are expected to arrive on July 23, 2021, and August 5, 2022, respectively.
