‘Predator: Killer Of Killers’ Trailer: Animated Anthology Movie Coming June 6 To Hulu Pits Violent Alien Hunter Against Humans Across Time

Later this year, we’ll see the next live-action installment of the “Predator” franchise with “Predator: Badlands,” but before that, it was announced today that an animated anthology film, “Predator: Killer of Killers,” is heading exclusively to Hulu on June 6 and the studio dropped a fantastic first look trailer to announce the project’s release.

The new streaming movie will see the iconic alien hunter being thrust into different timelines and locations in three separate and violent interactions with humans across history, including Viking radiers, the samurai and ninja of feudal Japan, and Allied fighter pilots during WWII.

An official synopsis hailing from 20th Century Studios and Hulu:

The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.

This has been a concept that fans have been hounding for years ever since “Predator 2” teased that the aliens had been interacting with humans for hundreds of years, and that nod was bolstered when “Prey” took the deadly alien to the past and even connected the two films via a flintlock pistol.

Dan Trachtenberg co-directed the animated project, inspired by Netflix‘s “Arcane,” alongside Josh Wassung (from animation company The Third Floor), with a script penned by Micho Robert Rutare.

While chatting with Bloody Disgusting, Tranchtenberg revealed he co-directed while also filming “Predator: Badlands” in New Zealand. “We were writing the script for [‘Predator: Killer of Killers’] while we were prevising stuff on [‘Badlands’], and then [once on location] in New Zealand, on the way to shoot [‘Badlands’], we would remote with everyone back here and [watch footage] thanks to Starlink.”

When asked by the outlet why the genre filmmaker would attempt to make two films at once, Trachtenberg chuckled and then admitted, “This all was like a game of hopscotch…That was dumb. I hope I don’t do it again.”

As mentioned at the top, Elle Fanning stars in “Predator: Badlands,” which is also directed by Trachtenberg (“Prey”) and is heading to theaters on November 7, going head-to-head with Edgar Wright‘s “The Running Man.” “Badlands” is expected to take place off-world and will see the predator uncharistically in the role of the film’s protagonist, a potential hint we might be seeing Fanning rocking predator tech and potentially being welcomed into a predator clan (like other female characters from the lore).
