Scott will play Group Captain James Stagg in the WWII film, the Chief Meteorologist for the Allies, who had to inform General Eisenhower on the weather conditions leading up to the Normandy invasion.  Read on for an official synopsis for “Pressure” below:

In the seventy-two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element—the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on. With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower. With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.

Hotel Mumbai” director Anthony Maras helms the race-against-time war film, which starts shooting in the UK this Fall. That means expect further casting news for this one as the summer rolls on. Maras co-pens the film’s script with David Haig, an adaptation of Haig’s play of the same name. The original play production ran in London’s West End, including a performance to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day with the late Queen Elizabeth II in attendance.

Studiocanal will handle world sales for “Pressure,” the studio’s latest WWII vehicle.  They’ve had success with such films before, most recently with “The Imitation Game” and “Darkest Hour.” Will “Pressure” prove to be another smash hit? Count on it if Scott brings his A-game: the actor is in arguably the brightest moment of his career. Other upcoming films for Scott include the Netflix actioner “Back In Action” and Richard Linklater‘s Blue Moon.”

Expect another big UK actor or two to join Scott on “Pressure” before it starts filming this September. As for a release date? Awards season 2025 sounds like a good bet.
