Quentin Tarantino Reportedly Teaming With Jerrod Carmichael For 'Django/Zorro' Film

Here’s your daily dose of news that comes out of left field, leaves you scratching your head, but then ultimately, makes you desperate to have it come true. In short, it’s being reported that Quentin Tarantino is teaming up with Jerrod Carmichael for a sequel/spin-off film “Django/Zorro.”

According to Collider, Tarantino is reportedly set to co-write the script for a crossover event film that would find his lead character from “Django Unchained” teaming up with the famed swordsman, Zorro, for an epic adventure. The film is said to be inspired by a comic book series, titled “Django/Zorro,” which was released by Dynamite Entertainment and Vertigo Comics (a subsidiary of DC). And as mentioned, apparently Tarantino has brought on Carmichael to help shape the film.

The story of “Django/Zorro” follows the Tarantino character after the events of ‘Unchained.’ He’s settled down with his wife near Chicago and finds himself taking odd jobs around the Western part of the country to help send money to his family. Along the way, he comes across an aging Zorro, and together, they go on adventures, as Django becomes the swordsman’s “bodyguard.”

As much as we feel like we have the general idea of the plot of the film, the rest of the project is a bit of a mystery. It’s assumed that Tarantino and Carmichael are co-writing the script, but there’s no word on if the ‘Unchained’ director will helm this film. His next project will be his official 10th film, which is when he said he would call it quits. Is Tarantino ready to go out with a sequel? Unlikely. Tarantino is probably shepherding this film with the help of the comedian Carmichael, and ultimately, will pass it along to another filmmaker.

Carmichael is perhaps best known for his stand-up comedy work, as well as his sitcom “The Carmichael Show.” He’s also appeared in various cameo roles in films like the two ‘Neighbors’ films.

No word on when we might see this film, but consider us ready right this moment.
