Got a Tip?

Quentin Tarantino Says Rom-Coms Are His “Guilty Pleasure,” And ‘Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past’ Made Him Cry

Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past Quentin TarantinoWhile he’s generally known for his bloody, violent, tough-talking genre movies, it would appear that Quentin Tarantino is a big old softie on the inside. Doing the rounds for "The Hateful Eight," the director stopped by "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" and made a shocking revelation.

“Rom-coms are a guilty pleasure of mine. Especially on airplanes. Kate Hudson is the queen of the skies as far as I’m concerned,” he said. “I have found myself crying — just literally weeping — at the embarrassing confession movies.”
And Tarantino details one movie in particular that got him to break out the Kleenex: Mark Waters‘ 2009 cinematic opus to love, "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner. And Quentin gushes about the moment that brought on the waterworks.
“In that movie, he’s this sexy fashion photographer. Famous fashion photographer. Has a ton of girlfriends. He’s a real jerk. He’s known her for a while," Tarantino explained. "Then it goes to a flashback when they knew each other when they were children. They’re at a swing, and it’s snowing in a park. She gives him a birthday gift, and he opens it up and it’s a camera. It’s actually the first camera I was ever given when I was a kid. And all of a sudden, I just start crying.”

I don’t know about you, but I would love to see Tarantino’s list of his favorite, weepy rom-coms. Now there’s an idea for a program at the New Beverly. Just sayin’. Watch the ‘Late Show’ segment below, and see "The Hateful Eight" on Christmas Day. It probably won’t make you cry. [via EW]
