Earlier this week, we described “Dune: Part Two” star Rebecca Ferguson as somewhat unpredictable and always outspoken, always willing to boldly speak her mind no matter the consequences. This was in reference to Ferguson, candidly sharing with The Playlist in a recent interview that the actress herself had decided to leave the “Mission Impossible” franchise after her three-picture deal had ended, and then the filmmakers decided to kill off her character. But that forthrightness is nothing compared to what she just said about an “absolute idiot” co-star in a recent episode of the Reign With Josh Smith podcast.
During the interview, Ferguson revealed that a fellow co-star in an unnamed film had humiliated her by screaming at her on set in front of the cast and crew.
“I remember there was a moment [when] this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out. And I think I was so vulnerable and comfortable that I got screamed at,” the Swedish actress remembered. “But because this person was number one on a call sheet, there was no safety net for me. So, no one had my back. And I would cry walking off set… and I just stood there, breaking.”
The actress claims the unnamed actor brutally embarrassed and dressed her down on set, yelling at her in front of the crew, “You call yourself an actor? This is what I have to work with? What the f**k is this?”
Ferguson joked it was Hugh Jackman before clarifying that it wasn’t him or Tom Cruise, in case anyone was about to start guessing. Ferguson then says the next day, however, she decided to change her tune, summon up all her courage, and confront the actor regardless of whether it would jeopardize her role.
“[I said], ‘You get off my set,’” Ferguson remembered. “It’s the first time I’ve ever spoken ]up], I remember being so scared. I looked at this person, and I said, ‘You can f*ck off. I’m gonna work towards a tennis ball. I never want to see you again.”’
The actress says after the altercation, the worried producers came up and tried to tell her she couldn’t speak to the lead actor this way and that he had to be on set to film their scenes together. She then later went to the director to ask why the screamer had been allowed to act this way on set, and the filmmaker eventually sided with her and basically apologized.
“The director said, ‘You’re right. I am not taking care of everyone else. I’m trying to fluff this person. Because it’s so unstable,’” she recalled. “It was great from that moment, but it took so long for me to get to that [moment of speaking up]. But from that moment, I have never let myself get to a point where I’ve gotten home and thought, ‘Why did that happen?’”
Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson, who worked with Ferguson on 2014’s “Hercules,” quickly weighed in on social media to lend his support. “Hate seeing this but love seeing her stand up to bullshit,” he wrote on Twitter, now X. “Rebecca was my guardian angel sent from heaven on our set. I love that woman.”
Speculation is already running rampant on who the actor might be online, but let’s leave that out of it unless someone is actually named in the story. Check out the full interview below, and don’t ever mess with Rebecca Ferguson on set (or elsewhere).
