Renée Elise Goldsberry Added To The Cast Of Marvel Studios' 'She-Hulk'

Fans have been seemingly enjoying the steady trickle of Marvel Studios content with the weekly release of new episodes of TV series on Disney+. And with all of the news coming out about the upcoming MCU series coming to the streaming platform, it appears that trickle isn’t going to stop anytime soon, with Marvel Studios putting the finishing touches on some shows (“Loki,” “What If?”), wrapping up production on others (“Ms. Marvel,” “Hawkeye”), and casting the ones that come after (“Moon Knight,” “Secret Invasion,” and a million others…). One of the shows that fall into the latter category is “She-Hulk,” which has added a brand-new, award-winning cast member to the production.

According to Deadline, Renée Elise Goldsberry has been added to the cast of “She-Hulk,” as a character named Amelia. For those unaware, “She-Hulk” stars Tatiana Maslany as the title character, Jennifer Walters, the cousin of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). The series is billed as a legal comedy, considering in the comics, Walters is a lawyer that shares a similar green affliction to her cousin. However, it’s unclear how Goldsberry fits into this, as Amelia.

In Marvel Comics lore, there are a few different “Amelia” characters that fit the bill. There’s the potential Goldsberry is Amelia Hopkins, a supporting character that has recently shown up in various comics. However, there’s also Amelia Voght, a character that has a much more storied history, as a leader of SWORD (an organization that was introduced in “WandaVision” earlier this year). Of course, there’s the option that Marvel Studios seems to love where they introduce a character with an inconspicuous name that turns out to be a front for another character (looking at you, Agnes aka Agatha in “WandaVision”).

No matter the exact role, Goldsberry is a solid addition to the growing “She-Hulk” cast. The actor is probably best known for her award-winning work in the Broadway hit, “Hamilton.” She’s also showed up in “Waves,” “The House with a Clock in Its Walls,” as well as the TV series, “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.”

It appears “She-Hulk” is prepping to begin production later this year, which would set it up for a 2022 release.
