Report: George Miller Shooting Two Mad Max Films Back To Back?

Is this the reason why Tom Hardy said George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” is planning on shooting for a relatively long nine months (or up to a year)?

Twitch is saying they’ve learned Miller will be shooting two films back to back. One is obviously called, “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The other is allegedly titled, “Mad Max: Furiosa.”

We pause for a sec and raise an eyebrow as that’s a terrible title and sounds a little made up, but who knows. The two films are reportedly not only being shot back to back, but going to be released “immediately” after one another. If this is true, surely there’s at least a six month gap between them ala the last two “Matrix” films.

Aside from Tom Hardy (“Inception,” “Bronson”), “Mad Max 4” also stars Charlize Theron, Nicolas Hoult (“A Single Man”), Zoe Kravitz and Adelaide Clemens.Teresa Palmer had to recently drop out because of a scheduling conflict. The film has no date yet, but a 2012 release is expected as is some form of 3D.

Update: Hitfix says they have confirmed this report. Their guess? Tom Hardy leads one film and Charlize Theron leads the “Furiosa” one which obviously is the feminine form of furious in most Latin-based languages. Frankly, it’s not bad speculation at all.
