How to do you solve a murder when everyone is a suspect? A wise detective finds himself with the case of a lifetime in “Reptile,” and the grisly killing is just the beginning as he soon discovers connections to his own life. “Reptile” hails from director Grant Singer — better known for his work on videos for Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Lorde.
Singer recently spoke about the quest to create this twisted cinematic experience. “I think the movie will be exciting to people who like to watch something where you don’t know where it’s leading you, where a film is going to have twists and turns and deceive you,” he told EW. “And people who like things that are intense and visceral and suspenseful, I think they’ll find something exciting in this.”
The film is led by co-writer and executive producer Benicio Del Toro; the prestigious actor portrays the troubled detective in search of answers. It’s yet another intriguing project from the actor — last seen in Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch.” Justin Timberlake, Eric Bogosian, Alicia Silverstone, Domenick Lombardozzi, Frances Fisher, Ato Essandoh, Michael Carmen Pitt, Karl Glusman, and Matilda Lutz round out the cast.
The film’s official synopsis:
“Following the brutal murder of a young real estate agent, a hardened detective attempts to uncover the truth in a case where nothing is as it seems, and by doing so dismantles the illusions in his own life.”
A devastating murder changes everything in “Reptile.” The new film comes to Netflix on October 6. Get your first look at the trailer below.
