Got a Tip?

Ridley Scott Says ‘Blade Runner 2’ Is “Surprisingly Clever”; Watch 3 New ‘Exodus’ Featurettes Plus New Photos

nullI’d argue that classics like “Alien” and “Blade Runner” should be left alone, but clearly director Ridley Scott disagrees. 33 years after the fact, Scott returned to the “Alien” univserse with “Prometheus," a sorta-prequel to the original 1979 film (and if you felt like it was a direct prequel, despite the insistence that it wasn’t, at least the sequel will definitely go off in it’s own direction). And he’s very much still resolute on making a sequel to “Blade Runner” with Harrison Ford.

“We met [about ‘Blade Runner 2’] the night before he had the accident,” Scott said in a recent Yahoo interview, referring to Ford and the accident he had on the set of “Star Wars: Episode VII” earlier this year. Written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, Scott clearly likes the drafts that have been written thus far and is lining it up in his schedule.

“It’s on the charts,” he said. “I can’t say when that would be yet because of [Ford’s] thing with ‘Star Wars.’ It’s a sequel— it’s what happens next. It’s quite surprisingly clever.” What that clever is, and what direction it goes, we don’t know yet and will have to wait to find out.

In the meantime, Scott’s got his “Exodus: Gods & Kings” coming out this winter. Due December 12th, the movie is an account of Moses’ hand in leading the Israelite slaves out of Egypt, and stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, John Turturro and many more. New photos and three featurettes from the film have arrived, and you can watch them below.
