Ridley Scott wasn’t just toying around with the genre after returning to sci-fi with last year’s “Prometheus“; he’s jumped into those waters with both feet. While reception to the movie was decidedly mixed, it didn’t take long for sequel talk to start and earlier this year, Noomi Rapace had even told us she met with Scott about the movie, noting that the script was being worked on. Fast forward a few months and it was revealed that “Transcendence” writer Jack Paglen had been hired to write the movie, while a comic is also being developed to continue the story. But when will see it on the big screen? Ridley Scott won’t pin down a date but it seems things are moving along swiftly.

” ‘Prometheus 2’ is written,” he told Empire“I have already got the next two films ready to go. That will be 2014, 2015…” Of course, we know the 2014 movie is his currently shooting Bible epic “Exodus,” but we’ll have to keep wait and see which of the five thousand projects Scott is attached to any one moment coalesces for his next effort. But one of them could be his long developing “The Forever War,” which seems to building some steam.

Linked to Scott since as far back as 2008, the project gained some new life last fall when D.W. Harper (“Edge Of Tomorrow,” “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters“) was roped in to write, and it seems to have paid off.  He also spoke about it in a recent interview, so it’s clearly bubbling up among his long laundry list of projects. “We’ve finally got a very good draft of that for Fox,” he told the movie magazine about gestating film. “I thought I’d left science-fiction for too long, that I had better climb back in. ‘Prometheus’ was a great experience for me. Chasing number two, we can start evolving the grand idea…”

So, as always, we’ll see. Until then, all eyes are on “Exodus,” which lands on December 12, 2014.
