Since its launch back in November, Disney+ has been incredibly popular with families and young people. This is mainly because the streaming service caters to those that enjoy animated films, children’s movies, and the occasional “Star Wars” or Marvel Studios film in between. There really isn’t a lot on the service to attract adults. That’s where “The Right Stuff” comes in.

As seen in the new trailer for “The Right Stuff,” the new series tells the incredible true story of the Mercury 7 and the infancy of the United States’ voyage to the stars. Obviously, it’s a story that is full of hope and heroism, showing just what it took for these men to venture into the unknown strapped to a highly combustible rocket and not knowing what might happen. But it’s definitely a story about drama. And that’s something relatively new to Disney+. And it might just show how the platform begins its maturity.
“The Right Stuff” is based on Tom Wolfe’s best-selling book and produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way. The series stars Patrick J. Adams, Jake McDorman, Colin O’Donoghue, Aaron Staton, James Lafferty, Micah Stock, and Michael Trotter.
Much like the rest of the Disney+ original series, “The Right Stuff” will be released on a weekly basis beginning with a two-episode premiere on October 9 with the remaining six episodes to debut after. The series was originally made for National Geographic Channel, but was ported over to the Disney streaming service after it was clear the platform needed some original content due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutting everything down.
