Robert Pattinson And Taika Waititi Are Headed to Karlovy Vary Film Fest

The 2018 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is right around the corner and the Czech Republic institution has some more special guests on deck.  The festival previously announced that Oscar-winner Tim Robbins and the Austin Film Society, with Richard Linklater on hand, will receive tributes.  Terry Gilliam, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer will present new films.  Now, there are even more familiar names making their way to the popular European fest.

KVIFF kicks off on Friday night and “Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi and producer Carthew Neal will be guests at the always lavish opening ceremony. The duo are shooting Waititi’s new movie “Jojo Rabbit” in Prague and we’ve heard rumors that one of the film’s stars, Rebel Wilson, will make her way to the party as well.  The Fox Searchlight release also stars Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell and is expected to hit theaters in 2019.

Robert Pattinson, who can currently be seen in the indie “Damsel,” will be a special guest at the closing ceremony on Saturday, July 7.  During the evening ceremony, Pattinson will receive The Festival President’s Award which is presented to outstanding personalities of world cinema.  Pattinson’s next film, Claire Denis’ “High Life,” is expected to hit the fall festival circuit later this year.   He also recently finished shooting Robert Eggers’ “The Lighthouse” and is currently in production on David Michôd’s “The King” alongside Timothée Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, Ben Mendelsohn andLily-Rose Depp.
