Roman Polanski is seemingly neglecting a judge’s semi-recent olive branch in his long-running child-sex case that was reopened late last year thanks in part to evidence found in Marina Zenovich’s documentary, “Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.”
With the judge’s two and a half month deadline for a re-hearing ending this Thursday, it is unlikely that Polanski will return to the country he fled three decades ago. Polanski has yet to contact the court, his lawyers have refused to comment on Polanski appearance and his agent would only reveal that Polanski is currently shooting a film in German (political thriller “Ghost” now starring Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kim Cattrall, Tom Wilkinson).
The director pleaded guilty in 1977 for unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl which constitutes the crime of “moral turpitude” that precludes foreigners from getting on an airplane bound for the U.S. The trial will probably continue to be met with requests, denials, appeals and no-shows.
