'Room For Rent' Exclusive Trailer: Brett Gelman Is The World's Creepiest Roommate In This New Comedy

Comedian Brett Gelman is one of those actors that you’ve seen in a million different films and TV shows, who always seems to steal every scene he’s in, but has yet to break out in a big, deserving way. He has this ability to play the funniest guy in the room and instantly change into dramatic and intense. You can see it in his work in the underrated “Love” on Netflix or “Fleabag.” And in his new film, “Room for Rent,” he again straddles that line between creepy and hilarious. We’re happy to have the opportunity to provide film fans with an exclusive first look at the film’s trailer, which demonstrates that Gelman is clearly the worst roommate ever.

“Room for Rent” follows an early-30s man named Mitch Baldwin (played by Mark Little), who is best known as the kid that won millions of dollars playing the lottery as a teen and blew it all. He now lives in at home with his parents. However, when his dad falls on hard times, the son decides the best way to save their house and dire financial situation is to…you guessed it, rent a room. Enter Gelman and his character Carl Lemay. Carl clearly has something going on and starts to throw up red flags for Mitch. Or is it “midge?”

“Room for Rent” spent the better part of the last year visiting a variety of festivals and is now ready to be unleashed on the world. Here’s hoping this is the performance that pushes Gelman into a new realm. Joining the awesome Gelman and Baldwin are Mark McKinney, Stephnie Weir, Carla Gallo, and Patrick J. Adams. The film is written and directed by Matthew Atkinson.

“Room for Rent” hits all major VOD platforms on November 2.

Here are the synopsis and new trailer:

Starring Brett Gelman (“Fleabag,” Lemon, “Stranger Things,” A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and HBO’s upcoming series “Camping”) as Carl Lemay and Mark Little (“Space Riders: Division Earth,” VRV’s “Gary and his Demons”) as Mitch Baldwin, Room For Rent follows broke, 32-year-old ex-lottery winner Baldwin in his quest to convince his parents to rent out their spare room to save the family from downsizing. What he gets is mysterious, creepy border Carl Lemay, who clearly has a hidden agenda about his presence in Baldwin’s life. As Carl upsets Mitch’s way of life, a battle of wits turns into all-out war involving deception, humiliation, spying, and revenge. Mark McKinney (“Superstore,” “SNL,” “The Kids in the Hall”), Carla Gallo (“Neighbors,” “Bones”), Stephnie Weir (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Mad TV”), and Patrick J. Adams (“Suits”) round out the cast.
