I’ll skip the standard opening line that proclaims TV to be the best thing since sliced bread, and just get to what you need to know: Two talented rising filmmakers are headed to the medium for what sounds like a pretty terrific project.
Ryan Coogler ("Fruitvale Station," "Creed") and Destin Daniel Cretton ("Short Term 12") will produce and direct episodes of "Minors." Penned by Chinaka Hodge, who will also produce, the show will be inspired by the writer’s work with troubled kids, and tell the story of kids who grow up in the system of juvenile facilities and alternative schooling. It’s certainly familiar ground for Cretton, whose "Short Term 12" glanced upon many of those themes, and potential material for Coogler as well.
No word yet on when this might begin production, or which network will snap it up, but keep an eye out for it. [Deadline]
