With the start of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” production this month, Ryan Coogler is seemingly a busy man already. However, he’s still finding time to lend his producing abilities to a new film with the director of “Judas and the Black Messiah.”
According to Variety, Ryan Coogler is teaming up with director Shaka King, producer Charles D. King, and actor Lil Rel Howery to make a new film about American political insurrection. Other than the description of being about “American political insurrection,” there’s not much else known about the plot of the untitled feature, however, when you consider the names involved, we can fully expect the feature to be explosive, to say the least. Coogler, Shaka King, and Charles D. King are all expected to produce the new film with Shaka King directing and Howery on board to act.

As mentioned, Shaka King is probably best known for his work as the director of “Judas and the Black Messiah,” the acclaimed feature from earlier this year that told the story of Black Panther leader, Fred Hampton. In the film, which was produced by Coogler and Charles D. King and was nominated for six Oscars, Howery was featured in a supporting role. In addition to ‘Judas,’ King broke out with his debut feature, the acclaimed “Newlyweeds.”

Coogler is no stranger to producing in recent years. Not only is he one of the producers of “Judas and the Black Messiah,” but he also had a hand in the creation of features such as “Creed II,” “Creed III,” and the forthcoming “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” He’s also producing the first “Black Panther” spinoff, which will be coming to Disney+ down the line.
Obviously, it’s still too early to know when the new film from Shaka King will arrive, but fans of ‘Judas’ should be excited.
