Last week, it was news that Alex Ross Perry is set to write and direct an adaptation of “Rest Stop.” Now, we have yet more Stephen King news with horror film master James Wan teaming with frequent collaborator Gary Dauberman for a new take on the classic novel “Salem’s Lot.”
THR is reporting that Dauberman has been hired to write the script for a new adaptation of King’s famous novel, “Salem’s Lot,” with Wan attached to produce. The iconic novel features the story of a writer that ventures back to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot (aka Salem’s Lot), where he discovers that the town’s inhabitants have become vampires.

Dauberman is probably best known for being the writer behind many of the biggest recent horror films, including 2017’s “It.” He’s also teamed with Wan’s production company on a variety of ‘Conjuring’ films including all three “Annabelle” films, “The Nun,” and the upcoming DC Universe series “Swamp Thing.”
Wan, of course, is the man behind the ‘Conjuring’ universe, and most recently flexed his superhero muscles as the director of the massive blockbuster “Aquaman,” which earned well over $1 billion at the box office. And when it comes to horror, pretty much everything he touches turns to blood-soaked gold.
This new film is not the first time “Salem’s Lot” has been adapted. Back in 1979, the novel was turned into a TV miniseries that would go on to be nominated for multiple Emmys. The miniseries was followed by a sequel TV film in 1987. And in 2004, the novel was once again turned into a TV miniseries. But considering everything attached to Stephen King is turning into a major motion picture, it was only a matter of time before “Salem’s Lot” got the same treatment.
