While he might not be rolling with the X-Men, Matthew Vaughn is keeping one foot in the comic book store as he gears up his big screen adaptation of buddy Mark Millar‘s “The Secret Service.” And with Colin Firth and Taron Egerton already set to star, the helmer has now found the person who will be causing all the trouble in the movie.
Variety reports that Samuel L. Jackson has bagged the villain role in the flick. The movie will follow Uncle Jack, a secret agent (natch), who teaches a young kid (Egerton) the tricks of the trade, while dabbling in a plot involving kidnapped sci-fi stars and the murder of an entire town. Behind it all? Yep, it’s Sam Jackson. Well, we’ll give it points for being unique, but whether this story can translate cinematically or turn into a “Jonah Hex” remains to be seen, but with Vaughn successfully bringing Millar’s “Kick-Ass” into theaters, we’d reckon he’s got a firm handle on the material.
The hunt is still on for a female lead — Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote are some of the names mentioned —and they’ll likely lock it down soon as filming is slated to begin this fall for a 2014 release.
