Sandra Bullock Set To Join Stephen Daldry's Adaptation Of 'Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close'?

Could Sandra Bullock’s highly-anticipated first post-Oscar role be in Stephen Daldry’s adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer’s “Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close”?

The actress was spotted with an unknown script in hand exiting from a meeting with Daldry on Friday in Austin, Texas sparking word of a possible collaboration between the two. No firm news yet on what the project could be though the likeliest suspect seems to the the Eric Roth-scripted adaptation of Foer’s novel which Daldry was recently attached to.

The NYPost go as far as reporting that Bullock “would play mother to Oskar,” the novel’s nine-year-old protagonist though that seems to merely be a guess on their part as that would apparently be the only role appropriate for Bullock that’s of any significance.

‘Extremely Loud’ follows the story of Oskar Schell, a young boy who goes on a search for the lock that matches a mysterious key left by his deceased father, a victim of the September 11 attacks. The novel is noted to be an unconventional work by the acclaimed “Everything Is Illuminated” author that contains “evocative graphics, including photographs, colored highlights and passages of illegibly overwritten text,” “ replete with hilarious and appalling passages” and features a voice that is able to “transform the cataclysm from raw current event to a tragedy at once visceral and mythical.”

Definitely sounds like an intriguing work that may very well put both Daldry and Bullock right back in award-season contention once again, though it remains to be seen, of course, if the collaboration actually comes through.
