Got a Tip?

‘Scooby-Doo’ Animated Movie In The Works That Will Feature A Mystery At WrestleMania For Some Reason

nullIt has been a decade since the live-action "Scooby-Doo" in 2002 that brought together the talents of Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini, Rowan Atkinson and Isla Fisher, and in Hollywood years, that's basically olden times. So an animated feature is in the works, which makes sense. However, the involvement of WWE Entertainment is totally baffling.

Warner Bros. is teaming up with the wrestling company on a new "Scooby-Doo" that will involve a mystery at WrestleMania. No, seriously. Here's the plot: When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, the entire gang travels in the Mystery Machine to WWE City to attend the epic event. However, when a mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show, Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne and Fred work with WWE Superstars to solve the case.

Listen, we're not naive enough to believe that any childhood favorites will reach the big screen without being wholly pillaged in the name of corporate tie-ins, branding and advertising (please see "The Smurfs"). But WrestleMania? Do kids even watch that anymore? As far as we can tell, it's mostly older meatheads who tune in to see the soap opera theatrics in the "sport" that is more about making speeches these days then actual wrestling. Maybe Scooby and the gang will solve the mystery of why anybody even watches it anymore.

In case you are one of the few that care, Triple H, John Cena, Kane, The Miz, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, AJ, and WWE chairman/CEO Vince McMahon (obviously) are lending their voices to this, and appropriately, it will be dumped straight to VOD, DVD and Blu-ray.
