'Shantaram' Trailer: 'Sons of Anarchy' Actor Charlie Hunnam Set To Star In Apple TV+'s Drama Series

“Sons of Anarchy” actor Charlie Hunnam will star in Apple Tv+’s newest series “Shantaram.” The 12-episode series is based on the best-selling novel written by Gregory David Roberts and follows the thrilling epic adventure of one man’s journey to redemption through a country that changes his life. Co-created, written, and executive produced by Steve Lightfoot, “Shantaram” will see Bharat Nalluri in the director’s chair. Nalluri has previously worked on shows like the “Doctor Who” spin-off series “Torchwood” and the podcast series “The Orchard.” His next project “Last Days of the Space Age” has entered pre-production and will be helmed by David Chidlow.

Here’s the official synopsis: 

“Shantaram” follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from in this new place. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.

Charlie Hunnam is joined in the cast by Shubham Saraf (“Bodyguard”), Elektra Kilbey (“Staying”), Fayssal Bazzi (“Stateless”), Luke Pasqualino (“Snowpiercer”), Antonia Desplat (“The French Dispatch”), Alyy Khan (“Traitor”), Sujaya Dasgupta (“Shadow and Bone”), Vincent Perez (“Queen of the Damned”), David Field (“Mortal Kombat”), Alexander Siddig (“Star Wars: The Bad Batch”), Gabrielle Scharnitzky (“Treadstone”), Elham Ehsas (“Homeland”), Rachel Kamath (“Jack Irish”), Matthew Joseph (“The Stairs”), and Shiv Palekar (“The Greenhouse”). 

“Shantaram” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on October 14. This will be followed by one new episode weekly until the final episode debuts on December 16. You can watch the trailer below:
