It’s September, and that means that we’re fast approaching the new seasons of a huge number of your favorite television shows. At the top of many peoples' lists is “The Walking Dead,” which has managed to survive the departure of showrunner Frank Darabont at the start of its last season to remain arguably AMC’s biggest success story, with 9 million viewers tuning in to see the season finale last year.
The show returns on October 14th, and will broadcast the first half (8 episodes) of its series in an initial run before returning in early Spring 2013. We already know that David Morrissey will be joining the cast as The Governer, that Danai Gurira (“The Visitor”) has been cast as Michonne, and that Michael Rooker would be returning as Merle at some point during the third season. Well, a new batch of images has dropped, giving us a closer look at all three of those new additions, as well as the rest of the surviving regular cast.
The end of the last season saw the dramatic loss of two of the show’s key players, and hopefully Morrissey’s character (who is apparently one of the best in the comics) will help fill that void. The new images promise lots more zombie encounters and a whole heap of interesting weaponry that will be used to fight off the undead. Our favorite here is the Merle tease – that’s a story we’ve been waiting two seasons to come to a head, and it should be pretty tasty when it does. [Collider]
