The epic finale that will live forever! You gotta love how modest Summit Entertainment is being about the final installment of the "Twilight" saga in their latest, jogging-happy, poster. Twihards will always complain about how movie bloggers tend to be haters about the "Twilight" series, but considering the marketing, the premises and some of these recently released photos, can you really blame us?
Case in point, the synopsis: The astonishing conclusion to the series, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2," illuminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.
Groan, give me a break. Then again, maybe they're just aiming straight at the core audience who are deeply enthralled by the series and can't even fathom how so much of it seems utterly ridiculous to anyone who isn't a die-hard. The most recent, and presumably final, batch of photos feature a lot of hugging, babies, red-eyed humans turned vampires and even an arm-wrestling competition, which we hope and pray is the final scene and climax of the movie. Because, well, that would be pretty awesome, no? Then again, in that case we'd likely have no showdown of mummies and booberries fighting in the fakest CGI snow setting of all time.
It really would be something if these films seemed to try a little bit harder, but each iteration has been successively worse than the last. Kristen Stewart complained about the series a lot in her early days and then quickly learned to shut her mouth, but one has to wonder if years down the road — when the series no longer makes or breaks the rest of their careers — if she, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are finally going to break down and admit just how cornball and awful these movies were. That would be something this writer would love to see and hear. Lautner aside, Stewart and Pattinson have proved they can act outside of the thespian-challenged emoting and dialogue in these films, so frankly, we can't wait for these films to be over so that we can see just how far their stars can stretch themselves. Directed by Bill Condon, "Breaking Dawn: Please No More, Dear God" opens on November 16th.
