Sony Slyly Retweek New 'Social Network' Trailer With A Twitter Vibe

This new “The Social Network” trailer isn’t that different from the original teaser trailer released two weeks ago, but it’s damn clever and it uses Twitter to convey the arc of the story to David Fincher’s new drama which is basically how the founder of Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg) basically betrayed friends to get his massive Empire off the ground.

The film is after all based on “The Accidental Billionaires,” is about the founders of the social-networking website that has the great tag line, “A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal.” Jesse Eisenberg plays Zuckerberg, the actual creator of Facebook, Andrew Garfield plays his co-founder Eduardo Saverin, Justin Timberlake plays Sean Parker the co-founder of Napster and Plaxo, and the cast is rounded out by Rashida Jones, Max Minghella, Rooney Mara, Dakota Johnson and Joseph Mazzello among some other newer names and faces.

People wonder why Andrew Garfield got the role of “Spider-Man” and as Eduardo Saverin one of the key players betrayed in the film, we’re betting he’s going to prove everyone wrong who said, “who??” And early word says his performance here was the exact reason he got the gig. He was fantastic in “Boy A” and we’re looking forward to Eisenberg finally stretching his abilities. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is composing the score too, what’s not to love?

“The Social Network” is due in theaters October 1st.
