Facebook likes to say that its Facebook Watch platform is a real thing. The company touts that people actually watch the series that show up on this supposed platform, specifically naming its original series “Sorry for Your Loss” as a breakout hit. And Facebook really wants you to believe that this drama actually does exist by releasing a new trailer for Season 2.
As seen in the trailer, “Sorry for Your Loss” continues the story of a woman dealing with the sudden, unexpected death of her husband. The first season tackled the immediate impact and what it means to lose someone at a young age and how you pick up the pieces. Season 2 appears to move ahead a bit forward in time, a few months after the death, leading the widow to attempt to move forward, while also trying to keep her support system around. It’s very heavy stuff and the trailer features enough tears and hugs to let viewers know that this is a series that is going to require a Kleenex box by your side at all times.
“Sorry for Your Loss” stars Elizabeth Olsen and Kelly Marie Tran. That is if this thing actually exists because, for the life of me, I don’t know anyone who has actually seen the series or watched anything on Facebook Watch. It’s an existential question that plagues the streaming services of 2019 — if there are no viewers, does your platform actually exist?
Kidding aside, there is one person (who shall remain nameless for fear that they’re the only actual viewer of “Sorry for Your Loss”) that The Playlist knows that has actually seen the first season. And guess what? That person said it’s pretty good. So, maybe I’ll have to sign into Facebook, look past all the racism, sexism, and conspiracy theories, and try to locate this drama series. Eh, that sounds like a lot of work.
Season 2 of “Sorry for Your Loss” premieres on Facebook Watch (a real thing? maybe?) on October 1.
