After the release of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” it was clear Sony wasn’t very close to being done with the film’s sequel, ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ despite a March 2024 release date. That led to the studio removing the third film from the release calendar completely. So, as of today, we have no idea when we might see the trilogy-ending animated film. But one person working on the film wants to make sure people don’t believe the latest reports about behind-the-scenes drama.

Yesterday, a new report from Jeff Sneider said that Sony’s third ‘Spider-Verse’ film, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” wouldn’t be released until 2027. Why the long delay? The report continued by saying there were creative differences with the film and a lot of what was already done had to be completely scrapped.
As you might imagine, this news sent a panic through the fandom. People were concerned the beloved franchise was in trouble. Thankfully, someone with direct knowledge of what’s going on with ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse,’ composer Daniel Pemberton, spoke up and wanted to make sure people remained calm.
Pemberton tweeted, “Don’t really ever want to weigh in on this sort of stuff BUT would you ever believe there could sometimes be stuff on the internet that might not always be particularly accurate? Hmmmm…”
So, it would appear that Sneider’s original report isn’t as accurate as we’re led to believe. Does that mean all is good behind the scenes on ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse?’ Not necessarily. There very well could have been some creative differences. But delaying the film until 2027 seems to be debunked, at this time.
This isn’t the first time the ‘Spider-Verse’ film franchise has been linked to drama. After the release of ‘Across the Spider-Verse,’ there was a report which featured crew members speaking up about bad working conditions. Apparently, there were a lot of last-minute creative choices that caused a bit of havoc behind the scenes. But since then, we haven’t really heard much about the franchise.
As mentioned, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” doesn’t currently have a release date.
