Got a Tip?

Steven Spielberg To Direct ‘American Sniper’ Starring Bradley Cooper

Bradley Cooper American Sniper, SpielbergWhile Bradley Cooper semi-rocked the movie world last night by dropping out of the flailing western “Jane Got A Gun” due to “scheduling issues,” he is getting right back on the proverbial horse and is now scratching Steven Spielberg off his bucket list of directors to work with.

That’s right, Spielberg has signed up to direct “American Sniper,” a project Cooper himself is producing, picking up the rights last year. Based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris KyleJason Deal Hall (“Spread,” “Paranoia“) will adapt the book which tells the story of sniper who, in a ten year career, bagged the most kills in Army history, leading Iraqi insurgents to place a bounty on his head. But for all his success overseas, Kyle’s work put a strain on his marriage and homelife. So back to “Saving Private Ryan“-esque territory for Spielberg?

Sounds pretty damn good to us. This will be Spielberg’s next picture with both Warner Bros. and DreamWorks involved. Guess that means that delayed “Robopocalypse” is now on the backburner, and same deal for that rumored Moses pic. [THR]
