I don’t personally know Dane DeHaan, and no offense is meant by my next statement, but I absolutely believe his portrayal of a sociopathic murderer in the upcoming Quibi series “The Stranger,” based on the footage seen in the new teaser. Well, and based on his previous performances, where he brings a level of creepiness to everything he does.

The teaser for “The Stranger” sets up the premise for the streaming series pretty well. The show follows a young rideshare driver (Maika Monroe), who picks up a strange new client outside of a mansion. When she inquires if the passenger (DeHaan) is a celebrity, due to his mansion, the stranger says that he doesn’t know the people who live there but he was there to shoot the owner in the face. As you might expect, that’s just the beginning of when the story goes off the rails.
As mentioned, “The Stranger” is yet another show that is being teased for the upcoming Quibi streaming service. As has been stated many, many times before, Quibi (short for “quick bites”) is a new type of streaming platform that is meant for mobile viewing and splits episodes and films into bite-sized 10-minute-ish chunks. The idea being that viewers on the go will be much more inclined to watch short episodes of TV rather than keep pausing mid-episode while on their commute.
Joining Monroe and DeHaan in the cast of “The Stranger” is Avan Jogia. The new series is written, directed, and produced by Veena Sud. You probably recognize her work from the acclaimed crime series “The Killing,” as well as films such as “The Salton Sea” and “The Lie.”
No exact release date has been revealed for “The Stranger” outside of an April window. And considering Quibi isn’t scheduled to launch until early April, that makes the series likely one of the launch titles for the streamer. You can watch the first teaser below.
